Tony Morrison born Chloe Ardelia Wofford, is an American editor, professor and novelist. Morrison received a B.A degree in English from Howard University in 1953. She released her first novel, The Bluest Eye in 1970. Morrison would go on to publish many award winning novels such as Sula, Song of Solomon and Tar Baby. She also became the first African American woman to receive The Nobel Peace prize in Literature in 1993.
