John Peoples

John F. People, Jr. wanted to do something in life that would personify an image of excellence. While working in restaurant management in Spartanburg SC, he realized that he had a snack for numbers. Peoples read the book Entrepreneur Today and noticed it listed tax preparation as an ideal home-based business. In 1981, he enrolled in a correspondence course for tax preparation from the National Tax Training School in New York. After passing the course, Peoples started preparing tax returns out of a spare bedroom at his home. In 1983, Peoples moved to Atlanta, GA, and started working for H&R Block. Three years later he returned to Spartanburg where he developed a client base of approximately fifty customers. The modest bedroom was no longer adequate, so Peoples moved to the living room and purchased his first computer. By 1991, his client base had grown to over 300 customers. Today Peoples operates out of his office on East Blackstock Road in Spartanburg's busy Westside. In his ever-expanding vision for Peoples Tax Service, Peoples continuously searches for growth opportunities.
