Tony Burroughs

Tony Burroughs is an internationally known genealogist, author and lecturer who taught genealogy at Chicago State University for fifteen years. His book, Black Roots: A Beginners Guide to Tracing the African American Family Tree (Simon & Schuster) was number one on Essence Magazine's Best Seller List. He consulted on the Reverend Al Sharpton - Strom Thurmond genealogy, the Oprah Winfrey genealogy, the PBS television series African American Lives and with public schools in Chicago and New York to get genealogy in the classroom. He was a guest expert in the television documentaries: Remembering Roots; (BBC in England); The Real Family of Jesus on The Discovery Channel; African American Lives on PBS; Oprah's Roots on PBS, and Ancestors also on PBS. He has also been interviewed on CBS Sunday Morning, CBS News, ABC World News Tonight, & BET Nightly News.
Burroughs has been quoted in newspapers in London, Paris, Toronto, Hong Kong and Sydney, as well as the New York Times, People Magazine, Time Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, Ebony, and Jet Magazine.
