Lottie Beal Gibson

Lottie Beal Gibson has been an activist in the Greenville community for over 50 years. She has worked to provide services for families who are facing financial and emotional hardships. Gibson is a graduate of Sterling High School. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Drama from West Virginia State College. In 1992 she won elected office as the Vice President of the State Association where she served two consecutive terms. This same year, Gibson was elected to serve District 25 on the Greenville County Council. She still holds this seat and is a liaison for the County Council to the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Commission. Gibson has received over 65 awards, citations and recognitions for her service to humanity, including The Jefferson Award, the Whitney B. Young Humanitarian Award from the Greenville Urban League, and the National Action Volunteer Award. Gibson continues to have a major impact in the community as an active member of the Greenville Branch of the NAACP.
